'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Loved Ones of Missing Teens Await News After Alpine Fire
The loved ones of teenagers lost after a deadly fire at a bar in a Switzerland's winter destination are facing an painful period of uncertainty for answers and pleading for any details about their loved ones publicly.
The blaze ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Verified images depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.
Authorities have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the fatalities of the fire, which resulted in the death of 40 people and hurt another 119. Officials said on the latest update that 113 of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts ongoing to name the final individuals.
In the meantime, families and friends have been using social media to appeal for information about their loved ones who were present at the venue that fateful night.
Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing
The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an appeal from his mother.
The who lives of Lutry near Lausanne, explained to a publication that she had gone back to Lausanne to see if he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in the capital, but could not find him.
"It feels like a terrible dream, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. Words cannot describe it," she said.

The Italian government has said that six of its nationals have not been located.
Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, who hailed from Italy but now living in Dubai.
The Italian Golf Federation has released a tribute that he is dead, without directly referencing the tragedy, paying tribute to a "talented young man who represented dedication and authentic values."
His parent, told media that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An representative has clarified that a official announcement of his death is awaited.
Additional Missing Individuals
Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also unaccounted for. His parent said that he had been on vacation but had gone out with a group and found himself at the venue.
"A companion told me they fled after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he couldn't see him anymore," she said, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.
One of his teachers stated, "I've always been struck by his good nature and smile, coupled with great maturity. Every time ask if help out."
Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on that night, according to sources.
Her brother has shared an appeal online, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.
Consular authorities from her other nation say they are closely watching the situation.
