In a unexpected collaboration that challenges conventional forecasts, the game developer has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Disclosed

According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of forbidden ceremonies and fearsome changes reverberate through the darkness." The storyline features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine sect.

The mission centers on "peculiar tests and a terrifying foe" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the hostage, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Additional Features

Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an exclusive katana alongside numerous artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

Third Free Story Update

This release also introduces the game's latest no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
